How to Center Yourself While Dating a Man
This book is for women who have either established a strong sense of self-worth and are ready to re-enter the dating world, or for those with unsteady self-esteem who are interested in dating. Additionally, it is for women who have healthy self-esteem and want to maintain and nurture it. It is often unspoken, but the reality is that men often contribute to the downfall of straight women, resulting in some of the most tragic moments in their lives. This pattern can be seen in the lives of successful women such as Billie Holliday, Amy Winehouse, Aretha Franklin, and Oprah Winfrey who have experienced heartbreak, violence, and disappointment. In reflecting on their experiences, two things come to mind: the need for men to change their behavior and the importance of educating parents, friends, family, and communities on how to prevent harm. While I am taking action to address the first issue in my own life, I also hope to provide guidance and knowledge through this book to help women remain grounded in themselves while navigating the unpredictable nature of dating.
